The Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region can only succeed with the help of its 4 Community Partners: the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc., and Communitech.
The Barnraisers Council was created in 2009 with inspiration coming from current Governor General David Johnston as a way to identify strategic issues and recommend possible responses that will continue the implementation of the Prosperity vision, including those related to continued enhancements to health care, education, and other sectors.
In addition to helping guide the prosperity of Waterloo Region, the Barnraisers Council also works with the Waterloo Region Record to honour individuals annually in Waterloo Region who best exemplify our community-minded spirit through the Barnraiser Award.
The Prosperity Council of Waterloo Region is a federation formed to collectively create an environment that supports opportunities for prosperity in Waterloo region. The Council is comprised of representatives of its founding partners: Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Canada's Technology Triangle Inc., and Communitech.
Prosperity, for the purposes of this Council, involves initiatives and policies that support wealth creation, supporting the objectives of enhancing our standard of living and overall quality of life. These include the Creative Enterprise Initiative, the Passport to Success, and the annual Branraiser Award.
Canada's Technology Triangle Inc. is a not-for-profit, public-private regional Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) partnership that markets the advantages of Waterloo Region to the world, to attract businesses, investment and talent to the Region.
The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business to champion opportunities that drive regional prosperity and enable community prosperity in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Woolwich Township.
The Cambridge Chamber is a non-partisan organization, funded solely by memberships, working hard to address concerns of business, provide access to information resources & represent members at all levels of government.
Founded in 1997, Communitech is Waterloo Region’s hub for the commercialization of innovative technologies. Communitech has helped build a tech cluster of nearly 1,000 companies that generate more than $30 billion in revenues.
